Psychodynamic Approach

A brief introduction to some of the core concepts from the psychodynamic modality, focusing on unconscious defence mechanisms including repression, denial, projection, projective identification and splitting.

Transactional Analysis

A brief introduction to some of the core concepts from Transactional Analysis, focusing on Ernst’s Functional Ego States, Berne’s OK Corral, Karpman’s Drama Triangle and Kahler’s Drivers.

The Humanistic Perspective

Principles of the non-directive approach, including frames of reference and the actualising tendency. Applying Rogerian theory in coaching with a focus on unconditional positive regard, congruence and empathy.

The Relational Lens

‘How you relate to the issue, is the issue’. Looking at the fluid and evolving nature of personal identity and how change occurs through relationship rather than because of specific techniques employed by coach.

The Existentialist Modality

What is existentialism, and how can the coach’s awareness of this philosophical approach improve our work? Focusing on existential ‘givens’, emphasising freedom and responsibility, and the phenomenology of being-in-the-world.

Positive Psychology

Applying the principles of positive psychology and solution-focused therapy in coaching.

Focusing on a ‘strengths-based approach’, understanding Positive Activity Interventions and adopting a positive psychology mindset.
